You should be good with around 5 g31 batts.
And u already have a h/o alt.
Just have dual runs of pos and negative.
-
Trust me, once you start using a can, the whole is gonna be used. Haha
your consciousness will keep bugginh you if you used enough in a spot or if u need to use more and more..
Be sure to tape off the area u are spray foaming. It will ooze out then expanded, and more oozing hahaha

Are you trying to seal or fill in gaps to keep flex and noise at minimum?
Since the gap is that large and if youre only trying to seal, fiberglass would be better IMO.
But if you just filling gaps to keep vibration or port flex so and on for you wall. Black can great stuff or layers of the regular can, if its in one small area.
With 1 inch can, red/ yellow, I fill small areas that were about 3 inch gaps,

So there is no damage to the motor or frame? They just need recone?
x2

Please dont put resin on the coils former or tripple joint.. lol
ah okay, i wont, thanks guys!
im almost done prepping
-
how nuch just for the recones? or is 110 just for the recones or it all said and done?
-
I say recone them yourself.
^^^^^^^^^^
if its possible go this route
-
12-3 is 9.
if both + and - of the speaker wire is being used for each terminal then i dont think there is a big difference.
-
hahaha 3k for p3s, sounds about right...

When rusty did derricks it was just below the spider not above, but we also had the old former before the stealth coils came out.
I would talk to rusty before you go ahead do it.
ahh okay, thank you kb!
rusty?! cj?! other dc reps?!
-
i updated the first post with pics of some damage
-
Hmm.. do you mean CA glue? You can use 5min epoxy to glue the spiders down and some GOOP for the surround and dome.. All can be purchased at Lowes.
For Sure recone time, i was watching the video and if you stare at the glue joint on top you can see it moving more than the cone, its a broke neck joint. only fix is a recone
Its just regular fiberglass resin. If I can find a picture of our old ones ill post up later. But if you got a chance run thru derricks build log on the teg and there should be a couple pics of the triple joint.
Or maybe someone else has pics...Cody?
thanks guys.
it did separate at the top, neck joint.
and kb, cj, sackett, when i recone, I'll use some resin i have left in the gallon container.
oh, the spots you guys are telling me to put the resin is

hey blaze!
and thank you everyone for commenting.
the SD8k got the subs real stinky... then i guess the k12 just damaged it further.
i cant really really tell if im clipping, but i tried my best to set the amp's gain with a dmm, as well as backing it off by a hair of a turn.
(the gain is probably turned less than a quarter, my hu has 4v preouts,)
the subs hasnt gotten hot with the k12 or even close to any coil smell.
but i noticed really bad clanking after i played that one note in the song, "my shit bang" on the k12.
after that day, the noise was more present.
the sd8k did cause some coil rub, but i just played through it since it didnt affect the performance noticeably... or thats what i thought.
thank you guys for all your replies.
im gonna prep the basket tonight.
oh, about the resin, could i use resin and hardener from lowes?
or is this a special mixture you need to order?
i dont know if my recone came with the resin, but ill check the box again.

Hey SMD!
awhile back i posted a thread about coil rub on one of my level 5s.
i purchased a reconethrough Cj. but never reconed the sub.
i just kept playing on it with the SD8k, then on the k12.
i first started noticing this "clanking" sound a couple weeks back when i was demoing a couiple people at a local shop.
before i left, i played a song, My shit bang- e-40, i totally forgot that there is a very low note in the song, i broke a dustcap on one sub, and blew off the other.
the note was extremely low.
after the most recent show i attened, i gave a couple demos, but by the time i was to be metered, the "clanking" noise became louder and output seemed to be less.
now its really bad.
recone time?
heres a vid to help describe the noise.
and heres some pic:

look i was looking for like something outside of weighing it mabe some type of number on it or just something you can just look at and tell, but thanks anyways for yalls very very intelligent answers.
Don't get a big dick about it.
-
You could also u a big ass aeroport. That'll save a lot of volume to be used for the sub(s)
-
look at some used amps?
-
CL FTW!
But look in caco or here for used goodies
-
Maybe u could keep the box if you don't use subs that need as much volume.
-
I saw that as well. But spelled differently.
Thomas, where did u find the info on Ellis's equipment/
-
Read the head unit manual?
^^^^^
this
I think its for the front and rear because if i go into sub settings that also has a filter setting in it ?
if you have separate sub setting/options, then the hpf wont affect the subs, but only the rear and front
