FI_Aaron
So i was gonna "shave" the emblems off my explorer, and put "Explorer" on my dash. Are the letters glued to the car or what? Im afraid to try to take them off and really screw something up Quote Lets Go Ski
roscoe1129
Typically they are on there with a foam adhesive (like the 3m type for the window visors). Or they are just a strong two way tape. You can get a hair dryer (if you dont have a heat gun) and some dental floss, WARM up the emblem and work the dental floss (couple strands together) between the emblem and your vehicle and they usually come free pretty easily on the newer cars. Take extra care not to get the area hot or it will ruin your finish! Then take some mild rubbing compound and polish out the spot! EpicenterDesigns
Ford emblems are held on by studs that are pushed into holes in the metal. If you remove them, you will have a couple holes that will need welded. Saltine
it depends on the year ford. most newer stuff is all stick on with double sided tape
rusty959
i'd say try the method roscoe mentioned, if the floss stops on something hard, there are studs, and you haven't lost anything. Saltine
you could also just reach your hand in one of the cutouts in the fender if you pop the hood. if you dont feel some plastic studs or a hole in the fender rip them hoes off 3m eraser wheel the tape off the truck and polish it out
EpicenterDesigns
You could just try the floss and see if it stops. Also, the last year Ford I removed embems off were 97. So I know up to 97 was studded on. Just don't take a flat screwdriver out there and start prying on them. That could be bad.
