Pauliesnite93
why do people use neg. runs of wire from front batt. to back batt. in a full frame car. LoudBurp
This has been discussed in many previous posts. If you search for "isolated grounds" it will more than likely pop up. But to answer you question as best I can, it comes down to is the debate of resistance. Some people say that the isolated ground has less resistance than the frame of the vehicle. But, this is very vehicle dependent. See, newer cars are (for a lack of better term) "glued together" and this "glue" might not have the electrical continuity that a piece of wire has. Although certain cars are now designed as a Faraday Cage, implying that the glue has to be conductive. Anyway, a vehicle with a frame might have less resistance. The only true way(s) to test this is to 1) Test the resistance from battery to amp, with both isolated ground and frame ground (you would need really long test leads and a milliohm tester) or 2) test voltage drop and power with both styles of ground. But the problem lies, that it is different for every vehicle. Personally I run chassis grounds on a full frame vehicle. I make sure that my battery and engine block have a direct and solid ground to the frame. From what I have seen, doing grounds like this will show almost no difference to isolated grounds, as long as the frame is solid. So, I hoped I helped with your question. Best of Luck and Cheers! There is a point of diminishing returns on the amount of equipment installed, kinda like throwing money out a window.
