HunterJohnson
I am running 1/0 to the back and I was wondering why you shouldnt have a fuse near the amp? What is the difference near the amp or near the battery? I am running the fuse in the back because I need to change from 1/0 to 4 gauge and I dont have an gauge adapter. n8ball2013
technically you should have one on both ends. The fuse is not to protect the amp though its to protect the wire. Would you rather have a short run up front to your fuse or would you rather have a long run through the body or under the car exposed to god knows what with 12volts connected to it. HatersGonnaHate
There's nothing wrong with having extra fuses. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. I have mine fused the same way, with it going from 1/0 to 4ga through the fuse... Don't feel like paying for an adapter lol But my wiring is like this: Front batt----1/0gauge with fuse-------------------------------through the car----------------------------fuse----- rear batt. Then rear batt----1/0ga-----fuse-----4ga to amp. It's just extra protection in case something shorts out. littlebuck1919
im fairly certain its because if u get a short/power surge....all the wires near ur power wire are now fried (in the event of a short or power surge) do ull need all kinda of new wires, and likely a new computer or two, maybe a new under-the-hood wiring harness Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/152368-littlebuck1919s-feedback/#entry2177586 i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol 6/18/82 - 4/17/12 R.I.P. to my sister Shana
Cardboardcat15
What N8 said. Fuse on both ends of the wire at least 12inches from the pos battery post. That fuse should be sized according to the amperage capacity of the wire. My Channel on YouTube. JeremyN
remember the fuse it to protect the car not your equipment fuse at all battery's in the system unless joined by a common bus bar . Find out the true Amp rating of your wire and fuse just below that point. better to replace a fuse than your whole car and system 2 12" Jeff Vue Customs 1 set MB Quart FSB 216 in doors1 American Bass 100.1 on sub1 Hertz EP2 on doorsJVC deck IPOD controlStock 105 amp alt DD-1big 3new build in Chevy caviler http://www.stevemead...chevy-cavalier/last set up in the ZX2 http://www.stevemead...-current-build/old build log http://www.stevemead...-1998-ford-zx2/ Gold is the money of kings, silver is the money of gentlemen, debt is the money of slaves. JasonJones
Fusing within 18 inches of the voltage source(battery alternator etc) is recommended. Closer the better. Depends really, it your amp is externally fused then adding on close to the amp is self defeating for the most part in terms of redundancy as well as it just costing you more. One thing I've always heard but wondered the validity is if fusing adds resistance. It makes sense but I'm not sure of how much a difference in potential it would make.
