Video streaming software help.

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of good software that is free that i can stream video with? Over the internet of course. I have windows media encoder but it's a real dog. Takes it forever to do anything.

I used Xsplit for a while and liked it. (http://www.xsplit.com/)

I belive Flash Media Encoder is free as well (http://www.adobe.com/products/flash-media-encoder.html). I think I had to use some other software to use as an input source (game streams).

it doesn't seem like adobe will let me stream a file, and the other seems like it isn't free. I did figure out why media encoder was being stupid, for some reason haali media splitter was running so i uninstalled it. Maybe i can get it to work right. lol

I swear Xsplit used to be free. It was free when I used it, but I think it was still in beta when I first started using it. It does have a free version, but I guess they neutered it's features. I just now saw that they moved to the pay model in April. Oh well.

no biggie, i think i figured out the issue with WME. Only issue i have is connecting to my own i.p. to the stream from the same computer using the internet i.p. address. I have to use the local address for it to work.

I'm only trying to use the internet i.p. just to make sure it's working and see how the quality is. I've never had any problem using my internet i.p. to connect locally before, but maybe win media encoder is janky that way. Thanks for the help.
