Capacitors. Lights, Dimming, Action!

Recommended Posts

So, since the debate is so awesome when it comes to crapactios I thought i would ask this question instead.

Have any of you tried just running a small cap on the low and hi-beam side of your headlights?

Yes, i know, "blah blah blah, upgrade your electrical noob."

But seriously, i wonder if it would help with reducing dimming?

I think I remember seeing someone do it before and working well. Don't quote me on it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.

I ask cause I don't think I'll ever hold 14.4 full tilt. And even a small drop is noticeable a night.

I may have to buy a couple .5 farad caps and try it

Bare with me im on a mobile device. Placing a capacitior on your lights would solve no purpose other then stop the lights from dimming. The underlying issue of not suppling sufficient amperage to your" system "will still lead to failure of your alternator eventual.Placing a cap on your lights is only for appearance on non dimming lights you still have other feature drawing amperage such as interior/dashboard lights,a/c,heater,powerwindow/locks/sunroof ect ooh and let not forget that radio.

Before I went that far, I'd install a relay on each headlight (lows and highs) to see if that fixes your problem.

Installing relays should lighten the load (strain) of your electircal system.

You are on mobile so you can't see my SIG. But the electrical is pretty good. And yes I know the caps won't fix the underlying issue, hence why I put blah blah blah in the op
