trulywickedcustoms
ok so i just started 1 other small project my buddies truck he has a 1999 silverado.. its a crew or quad cab it only has the 3rd door... but ne ways he is wanting to keep his backseat we put a 3" lift on it so we can get a big box underneath it .... im putting 2 -12" jbl P series subs http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/CAR/Boxes%20...4rev3_27_06.pdf ----- link to the box spec. im am wondering if a vented box would sound good in there considering the box goes up and over the drive tunnel?? and if i could do the vent in the middle where it goes over and subs on each side facen your feet.... so my big ? is has any one seen or heard this... if so do you think a seald or vented would be better for his application?? sealed=1.00 cube vented=1.75 cube thanks guys ill get som specs and see if any one can help with the design Edited August 13, 2008 by trulywickedcustoms Quote *2013 NEW BUILD* 12- 18" Crossfire XS v2's B pillar 4th order wall 4- Crossfire 8K mono blocks 40+ pro audio mids tweeters and horns 3- Singer alternator 400a external regulated alts tons of audiotechnix wire 24- XS Power D1400's -TEAM XS POWER- -TEAM CROSSFIRE- -TDH-

quakecitystudio
Okay I did a little reading on the sealed box and the woofer, and I think that there graphs is a little off. Why? Look here: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=29 and read on the Qtc. They say it's best to get a Qtc of .707, which is somewhat similar to how the music was originally recorded. So I tried out this equation for a seald box based on your woofer and volume requirement: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=30 From this: Qts .54 Vas 1.932ft cubed Fs 27hz Vb 1 ft cubed And got this: Qtc: .9246 Fc=46.23hz F3= 37.77hz Edited August 13, 2008 by quakecitystudio Quote Bass Music Producer • Photographer • Graphic Designer -------------- Deep Sector Boom... quakecitystudio
In comparison I decided to try out the RE Audio RE Series 8" woofer: Qts .34 Vas .957 Fs 22.8 Vb 1 and got this: Qtc .4756 Fc 31.9hz F3 53.18hz Edited August 13, 2008 by quakecitystudio Quote Bass Music Producer • Photographer • Graphic Designer -------------- Deep Sector Boom... quakecitystudio
I noticed my own flaw with Vas I was using liters and not ft cubed, and went back and corrected everything. Are you wanting a sketch of the enclosure? What would your dimensions be? L W H Depth and the curve radius over the drive axle. Ray
It is an ext cab not a quad cab. Do the port out the side both woofers on the opposite side.
