I'd take two 15" BTLs over the type R.....thats just me though....but why not two 18" BTLs vs 4 15" type Rs?

i was thinking about that but 18s are more

and im putting this system in the back of a 1999 explorer

and i didnt know if i could fit 2 18" btls side by side in the back

I reckon it would be easier to get loud with 2 BTLs. Cone area isn't everything. I dare say I could whip the shit out of 2 Pyle 15's with a pair of DD 1508's.

People have some common misconception that just b/c you have more cone area that you'll be louder even if on the same power....

all in the box ;) but if you have two boxes built the "perfect" for 2 15's and 4 15's the cone are is going to make the difference and you will see an extra 3 db ;)

With those amps listed I'd still take the 4 15" Type Rs over 2 18" BTLs... Throw each 15 in like 3.5ft3 per, tuned to 35hz and 45^2 of port. If you were to have each setup in ideal boxes I'd be willing to toss a significant sum of $$ on the type-arrrrgggghhhs.

1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... New setup, old ride... QX56 is staying stock til I get loud... It's only getting walled off if I don't meet my goal @ SBN.

Pioneer AVIC-N2

(12) 12" RE SXs old model.... (3) AB VFL 500.1 @ 1ohm each

Dual 300amp Ohio Gen alts.... (10) Northstar NSB-125s

26ft3 @ 33hz w/ a ton of port area

156.5 @ 40hz @ dash, Db Drag style / 153.2 Bassrace
